As a result from long spanned study and research on modernization of tradition, I found Yinyangwuxing thoughts lead up to Hegelian dialectic philosophy by itself and a genesis, development, rise and fall of all things(物換星移)was based on the laws of Wuxingshengke五行生克 Wuxing五行 consists of 5 directions=5 colors=5 elements.

One monad is as follows

According to the fact above mentioned, I earned totally 120 monads after changing directions and colors at the same time (24 monads positioning yellow at the center, 24 monads blue at the center, 24 monads white at the center, 24 monads black at the center, 24 monads red at the center each.)

For example,

I dubbed its proper number from 1 to 120 to each monad and jotted down its proper number on 5x5cm paper slips which were folded 2 times in half in both length and width. I mixed and shaked them altogether in the box and tossed them in the air.

After fallen on the ground, they are taken according to being near from the thrower's body. The numbers of paper slips taken were written on the notebook in the order of slips taken.

These 120 monads obtained on the basis of aleatory are regarded as the fixed result. If not, I am confused with various sources available.

For example,

81st monad represents yellow(north), blue(east), white(center), red(west), black(south). 56th one represents blue(north), white(east), black(center), yellow(west), red(south). Generations and inhibitions were risen i.e affinities(reliances) and repellances(restrictions) occur by changing direction of 5 elements on the aleatory Wuxingshengke basis.

It is called 5-element-generation-inhibition theory(Wuxingshengke五行生克): wood generates fire, fire generates earth, earth generates metal, metal generates water and earth inhibits water, earth inhibits wood, water inhibits fire, water inhibits earth, metal inhibits wood, metal inhibits fire, fire inhibits metal, fire inhibits water, wood inhibits metal, wood inhibits earth, Same element relies on each other.

On the reliance(generation) and repellence(inhibition) of 5 elements basis, enumerated elements are put separately or closely between two elements. However the problem was how I represent it in a form . All things are composed of micro-elements and the composed body has the best form by a certain law.

I expressed my thoughts borrowing the most common body, an apple, and using the most popular computer in both mentality and matter with modernization of tradition completed at present day.

It is my intention that I want Cezanne's apples to be superseded by apples produced by me.

I selected a computer as printmaking media on the basis of "I AM A MACHINE我卽機械" mentioned the way of selection pages 886,887 of Encyclopedia of Prints authored by me and published on my own account in 1991 in Seoul, Korea

Outside of outline of an apple are lenticula of photopraph. These lenticula express an extinction and disappearance of an apple ended up to its life. Even though we cut this apple in every direction, every section represents 5-element-generation­inhibition law applied.

I made this apple suiting to the 2008 Beijing Olympics applying 5 great continents containing Blue(Europe), Yellow(Asia), Black(Africa), Green(Oceania), Red(America) in Olympic flag by using aleatory Wuxingshengke basis above mentioned, by exchanging white(water of Wuxing, 5 elements) into green(continent of Oceania) and expressed "We are the One我們是一個同世界“

This Big Apple which consists of about 100 million polygons is the complete, harmonized and peaceful Earth. The Big Apple is the symbol of the New York city of U.S.A. also. As I donated two prints of 3 Eighteenths of a Big Apple on the aleatory Wuxingshengke五行生克 basis at the 21st Exhibition of Philoprint Pintmakers' Association Seoul, Korea 2008 invited and held by Luxun Academy of Fine Art, Shenyang, China repaying them for hospitable treatment. It is collected at the Department of Printmaking at the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, Shenyang, China.

큰 사과 시리즈의 작품 단상

작품제작의 정신적 틀은 동양의 고대 전통 철학인 음양오행사상에 바탕을 두고 있습니다.
전통의 현대화에 대해 오랫동안 고구考究한 결과, 음양오행사상이 헤겔의 변증법철학과 맞닿아 있으며 만물의 흥망성쇄物換星移가 오행생극五行生克에 바탕을 두고 있다는 사실을 알게 되었습니다. 오행은 5가지 방위 =색깔=원기元氣로 되어 있습니다.

하나의 모나드單子 monad는 다음과 같습니다.

위와 같은 사실에 따라 청을 중앙에 놓고 나머지 4색의 위치를 바꾸면 24개의 모나드를 얻을 수 있고, 황을 중앙에 놓고 나머지 4색의 위치를 바꾸면 24개의 모나드를 얻을 수 있고, 흑을 중앙에 놓고 나머지 4색의 위치를 바꾸면 24개의 모나드를 얻을 수 있고, 백을 중앙에 놓고 나머지 4색의 위치를 바꾸면 24개 의 모나드를 얻을 수 있고, 적을 중앙에 놓고 나머지 4색의 위치를 바꾸면 24개의 모나드를 얻을수 있습니다.

예를들면,



1부터 120까지의 모나드에 고유번호룰 매기고 5cmx5cm 종이쪽지에 1부터 120까지 번호를 적습니다. 가로로 반접고 세로로 반접습니다. 이것들을 상자에 넣고 흔들어 섞은 후 공중에 던집니다. 땅에 떨어진 종이쪽지를 앞에서부터 가까운 것을 집어 종이쪽지에 적힌 번호를 순서대로 노트에 적습니다. 이 120개의 단자를 확정된 단자로 여긴다. 그렇지 않으면 수많은 경우의 수가 있어서 혼동이 온다.

예를들면.



81번 모나드는 황,청,백,적,흑을 나타낸다. 56번 모나드는 청,백,흑,황,적을 나타낸다. 생과극이 일어난다. 즉, 무작위 오행생극에 따라 5원기의 방위를 바꾸면 친.소 관계親疎關係가 일어난다. 원기元氣가 서로 만날 때 목생화, 화생토, 토생금, 금생수 하며 토극수, 토극목, 수극화, 수극토, 금극목, 금극화, 화극금, 화극수, 목극금, 목극토 하고 같은 원기는 서로 생한다. 5원기의 친소관계에 따라, 나열한 원기는 붙이거나 떨어뜨립니다. 그러나 이것을 어떻게 형태로 나타내는 것이 문제 였습니다. 모든 사물은 미소원소로 구성되어 있으며 구성체는 어떤 법칙에 의해 최상의 형태로 나타난다. 근대회화의 아버지인 폴 세잔느는 자연을 원통형, 원추형, 구형矩形으로 변환해서 보라고 했습니다. 저는 그의 뒤를 이어 새로운 매체인 컴퓨터로 사과를 18쪽으로 잘라 동양의 오행생극(五行生克)의 사상을 바탕으로 방위 =원기 간의 친 · 소관계를 살펴 사과의 단면에 얻어진 수많은 대판大板에 따라 방위=원기를 배열해서 하나의 완전한 하모니를 이룬 사과를 만들었습니다.




고대로부터 내려오는 전통사상을 바탕으로 전통의 현대화로 정신적 물질적 양면에 걸쳐 지금 본인은 가장 일반적 도구인 컴퓨터로 가장 통상적인 사물인 사과를 빌어 나의 생각을 표현한 것입니다. 나의 의도는 내가 만든 사과로 섀잔느의 사과를 대체하고자 한 것입니다. 1991년 본인이 자비로 저술하고 출판한 판화 사전 886, 887 페이지에 명시한 것처럼 “나는 기계다我卽機械" 에 근거하여 컴퓨터를 판화매체로 선택하였습니다. 사과의 형태 바깥쪽에는 사진의 랜티큘라 lenticula가 있는데 , 이것은 사과가 생을 다하여 소멸하고 사라지는 것을 표현하였습니 다-物換星移.




사과를 어느 방향으로 잘라도 단면은 오행생극 의 법칙이 저용되어 있습니다. 저는 오방색을 바탕으로 오륜기의 청(유럽), 황(아시아)， 혹(아프리카)， 녹(오세아니아)， 적(아메리카) 오대륙을 적용하여 오방색의 흰색을 녹색으로 바꾸고 무작위 오행생극을 이용하여 2008년 베이징 올림픽에 맞추어 이 사과를 만들었습니다. 그리고 "우리는 하나다我們是 一個同世界” 를 나타냈습니다.이 큰 사과는 약 1 억개 의 폴리곤polygons으로 구성되어 있고 완전하고, 조화롭고, 평화로운 지구입니다. 또한 큰 사과는 미국 뉴욕시의 상징 이기도 합니다. 2008년 중국 선양루쉰미술학원 초대로 제21회 필로프린트 판화가 협회전에서 무작위 오행생극에 의해 제작한 ‘큰 사과 3/18쪽 3 Eighteenths of a Big Apple' 을 그들의 호의에 보답하기 위해 기부하여 현재 중국 선양 루쉰 미술학원 판화과에 소장되어 있습니다.
